About

Hi! My name is Lauryn. I am a second-year undergraduate student at McMaster University in the Economics program. I am a high achiever, perfectionist and natural leader.

MY CORE VALUES
"Achieve, Succeed, Exceed” -- this motto defines my commitment to ongoing growth. It goes beyond simply achieving; it’s about pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations in all aspects of life. I am someone who strives for excellence and isn't satisfied with mediocrity. I continuously work hard everyday -- to learn, to grow, to adapt. As someone who believes in doing the right thing and acheiving things ethically, I value integrity, honesty, hard work, compassion, and fairplay. Above all, I value the ability to own your mistakes and learn from them, to bounce back from failure and rise above, and to find the courage to take a leap into the unknown and reach for the stars.

VISION
The phrase “bigger, brighter, better” describes the vision I hold for the future. I see a country that needs competent leaders, an economy that needs growth, a system that needs reform. The world needs change and we must work hard to rebuild the world that we live in post-pandemic. As someone who wants to make a profound difference in the world, I am willing to work towards making those changes.

WHO I AM
I have been described by several people in my life as having “grit.” I don’t let my fears or anxieties stop me from achieving my goals, choosing to face my problems head on. I don’t back down from a challenge and I have a drive to succeed. I pride myself on my ability to adapt and learn new skills quickly. I am a hardworking, dedicated and resilient person. I work well in a team and am also able to work independently. I am a natural leader, and a go-getter with a positive, can-do attitude. I love to take charge in any situation and motivate others.

EXPERIENCE
As a cashier at Sobeys, I have had the opportunity to learn and grow. I am a valued member of the team and play an active role in helping the community. I have volunteered as a math tutor through Brock Learning Lab at Brock University and volunteered at the Grimsby Benevolent Fund as a cashier, a non-profit social services organization that focuses on helping low-income and struggling families through food bank donations, hamper drives, and a tax-free, second-hand store. I love helping others and enjoy giving back to my community. My experiences have helped me develop crucial skills to succeed in the workforce, including communication and customer service skills.

SKILLS
While working in various roles, I have sharpened my soft skills and gained several technical skills. I am well-versed in using computers and software, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel). I am proficient in Python and have basic knowledge of the mathematics software Maple. I have experience in using data analysis tools in Excel, such as Data Analysis Toolpak and XLSTAT. My soft skills include communication, interpersonal skills, organizational skills and time management, to name a few.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Throughout my academic journey, I have worked relentlessly to maintain a good academic standing and excel in my studies. I have achieved a 3.5 / 4.0 cumulative GPA (86% average in Canada) in my first year of university and am a Dean’s List recipient. I am a member of the Golden Key International Honours Society, the largest honours society in the world.
