About

Born and raised on the island of Kauai in Hawaii all my life, I made a big decision to move to Manhattan Kansas in 2015 because of my big brother being stationed at Fort Riley. The cost of living in Hawaii drove me to move and as a single mother of two I felt like I wasn't' going any where but struggling to pay for everything. Coming to Kansas I decided to get my CDL because of all the trucking that I seen going on here. I ended up meeting my future husband because of my brother and one day job hunting we stumbled upon Junction City Waste Management.I worked with WM for four years, until December 2019 my life turned upside. My husband got a job offer in Great bend Kansas and at the same time I was experiencing horrible vision problems. I found out that I had a brain tumor the size of a cantaloupe my life never was the same after that. Being at WM I realize this trucking industry needed better technician that could figure out things quicker instead of costing major down time or doing the wrong diagnostic. I almost died losing 2litters of blood and wasn't ready to go. This motivated me to pursue this field industry and make a name of myself in Peterbilt.

Goals and interests

Career goal

As of right now I'm a full time student at Salina Area Technical college pursuing my AAS in diesel technology. I got a internship with Peterbilt in Great bend. I love school but the cost of schooling, tools and transportation took a toll on me and my family financially. I'm fully committed to this and have made the drive to school everyday and back. It's a hour and twenty minute drive for me but that hasn't stop me from being a straight A student . The whole reason why I live far away is because my husband got a job as a linemen in Great Bend KS which is great but the closes diesel school was Beloit or Salina tech and they were both equally far to drive. I've survived one year of school and still have another year left. Schooling will never end for me as the technology keeps advancing on semi trucks I need to keep up with the times. So after I graduate SATC I will be full time employee at Doonan Peterbilt in Great bend Kansas and I will be sent off to do specialty training classes that they offer to be certified and trained in depth about the new technology that have been adding to the trucks. I learned that schooling will never end and I'm motivated by my family to become a master diesel tech.
