About
Hello,
My name is Madison Buehrle and I am from St. Louis, Missouri. I am currently a Junior at the University of Central Missouri studying to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. I will graduate in May of 2017 and plan to continue my education while working full time. I am not yet set on a specialty but I am deciding between a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, or a Registered Nurse on a Pediatric Oncology Unit. I have always been passionate about working with children; my dream job is to work in a children's hospital. I work as a computer lab consultant at my university throughout the school year. During the summer I work in the Wentzville R-IV School District as a paraprofessional aide with mentally and physically handicap preschool students. In my free time I love to read books and spend time outside, especially on the lake that I grew up on. I am on a competitive water ski team that competes in various tournaments throughout the summer. However, this summer will different than any before because I will be studying abroad in the Netherlands for three weeks. I am so excited to see what other adventures my future has in store for me!

Goals and interests
- Career goal
Ever since I was a little girl I have dreamed of one day working in a hospital, specifically a children's hospital. During my senior year of high school I decided that I would attend the University of Central Missouri to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. However, during my college career and clinical experiences I have found that I am interested in furthering my education. I have not yet decided on a specialty, but have narrowed down my options to studying to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, or a Registered Nurse on a Pediatric Oncology Unit. I have not yet decided on my specialty because I have not had the option to work on these units and determine where my true passion lies. Before applying and while attending graduate school, I plan to gain experience by working in an Emergency Room or on an Intensive Care Unit. Regardless of the specialty I choose to study, I plan to work hard to achieve my goal of working in a children's hospital.
- Graduate school interests
I have only briefly looked into graduate schools due to the fact that I have not determined what I want to study. I would like to stay close to my hometown and my family and attend graduate school somewhere in Missouri. I have looked into Washington University, St. Louis, University of Missouri, Columbia, University of Missouri, Kanas City, and Kanas University which all have exceptional graduate programs. Once I determine my specialty I will be applying for multiple schools and will attend the college or university that will prepare me the best for my future career.
- Outside the classroom
In 1999, when I was four years old, my family moved to Lake St. Louis, Missouri. Growing up on a lake, I have always loved being on the water and have been a member of a competitive water ski team since 1999. My team competes in many competitions every summer and I plan to continue to ski for many years to come. I also love to play sand volleyball as well as soccer and football with my friends on competitive teams. Other things I enjoy to do include reading novels, hiking, and traveling. My all time favorite series is Harry Potter, but I will indulge in almost any genre. I have visited Estes Park, Colorado many times and love to hike and snow ski. I gained my love for traveling from my father who is a Pilot. One of my goals is to visit every state in the country as well as at least one country on every continent.
