Goals and interests

Career goal

After leaving graduate school, I plan to teach middle school science. When I was a middle schooler myself, I had a teacher tell me most instructors don’t want to teach such a difficult age, and it’s a comment that’s stuck with me for years. I want to teach middle school precisely because it’s a difficult stage of life, and from my past experience working with students of that age, I know I’m equipped with the empathy, understanding, and mentorship adolescents so desperately need. I would like to teach middle school science in particular because science is my passion, and I hope my enthusiasm can empower my students. I like that science teaches more than just content; it also helps students develop their critical thinking skills, problem solving ability, and confidence in addressing the mysteries they find intriguing.

Graduate school interests

I have been accepted into the CU Boulder School of Education's MA+ program, which will allow me to earn a master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction alongside a teaching license in Secondary Science.

Outside the classroom

Tennis, hiking, biking, yoga, working with kids and animals, spending time outdoors
