About
Hello! My name is M'Deja Howell, 20 years old, and my career goal is to either Post-secondary or secondary math teacher. Along with Helping others and Math, I love traveling especially places that hold a numerous amount of history. Music and food from different cultures is part of my passion as well. Also my heart melts when I have my eyes on a puppy or two.
As a Future teacher, I want to make a difference within the world and expand the minds my future students and let them see that Math is not a scary subject. Show them the beauty of math and where math can take you.
Knowledge is Power!
I strongly believe that knowledge is power and we are capable to learn numerous of things. Knowledge is all around us and I want to express that with mathematics. For years, there’s been a misunderstanding that mathematics is unable to help a person in the real world but I want to change that misunderstanding. Within my classroom, I would arrange it where my desk is in the back and the desk/tables are facing forward towards the board. Around the classroom on the walls I would have math around and try to cooperate landscapes and buildings and how math is used to make them. By having these posters up can try to motivate my students to be more interested in math and how math is used in different fields. Also, I would like to use technology such as google hangouts so my students can talk to others students, in other countries if possible, and ask what and math is used in their country.
Within my classroom, I will have my rules and procedures within the syllables stating that this class with be fun but I will not tolerate disrespect within the class. Respect is earned and I will not tolerate a student being disrespectable. I want the students to see that math may be frustrating but it’s a very useful tool in the real world. During my class depending how long for each class, I would try to have games that deals with the lesson possible on Fridays or the last 30 minutes within the class. I want to show my students that math can be interesting depending how they use it.
