About

Melissa is gravitated to working in the healthcare sector and is completing her Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Communication Sciences and Disorders as she transitions into areas such as speech-language pathology, assistive technology/AAC, and neurorehabilitation. Melissa is an incoming graduate student at Northwestern University, pursuing a Master of Science in Speech, Language, and Learning. She looks forward to exploring the numerous opportunities in the Evanston and Chicago area and hopes to conduct her clinical fieldwork through the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab.

Melissa is fulfilled by hands-on roles and being immersed in a patient or client-facing environment. She envisions herself working with patients who are recovering from strokes and traumatic brain injuries, and also patients who have an onset of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Melissa has prior experience in patient care coordination, project/program management, and event planning.
