About

Bachelor Degree in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Bologna,I won an Overseas scolarship program to study at Indiana University Bloomington. My main interest of research is Medical Anthropology. I am currently organizing an exposition on the relationship between bodies and objects in the daily urban setting. Furthermore, I am leading an etnographic research on a psychiatric community located near Bologna. The research aim to investigate the relationship between the attempt of re-establish the mental health of patients and the insertion of the individuals inside the neoliberal market. Moving from the perspective given by Franco Basaglia, I will face this intricate entanglement of relations to see how these local links affect the outcome of the care process. My interests are also photography, videomaking and Visual Anthropology. I took part of a workshop of Visual Anthropology on the re-funzionalization of the carnival in Barbagia (center of Sardinia). I also worked as an organizer into the photo exposition. I also wrote an article about this topic (in italian) on the official site of the association (I.R.F.O.S.S.). I have collaborated with the U.S.L (state institution responsable for the entire care management in the province) of Modena during my etnographic work made to analyze the social relationships and dinamics inside the ER of Baggiovara. This research was focused on the presence of north african migrants and how some of them require an increased social attention to efficently manage their situation of health risk. Finally, I wrote a serie of articles about the Middle East and North Africa political situation in the online news paper "Studio News 24". I am particularly interested in this geographical area and I planned to spend a period of study abroad to increase my language skills in arabic.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I hope to find a position in the world of preventive care to manage health and social needs of the population. I have worked in the social analysis of the paths of care in particular in the emergency management (ER). I would like to continue my path to increase my analysis skills in order to became an always more useful tool inside the Public Health Institutions, both state and N.G.O. (in particular in matters of migrations and difficult social and psychological situations).

Graduate school interests

I am currently attending the master degree in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Bologna after my period of exchange at Indiana University of Bloomington. I am planning to graduate at March 2016 (this is a two years master so I am in the correct timing for the graduation).

Outside the classroom

I am a sportive person (I have practiced: competitive swimming, boxing, Muay Thay, basketball and running, free climbing). I really enjoy to make photos and videos even during my free time and not only for ethnographic analysis. Furthermore, I am a good public speaker and I have many different interests. I play the electric bass and I have collaborated with several bands. I did many concert as an amatorial musician. I think that the more I can increase my personal interests through different fields, the more I may be able to provide a complex and complete description of the things around me. This is the main reason that leads me to have so many interests.
I am a curios and dynamic person with an high adaptability.
