About

I have a strong academic background in physics, pre-calculus, and aerospace engineering, which aligns with my goal of becoming an aerospace engineer. My coursework in AP Computer Science and Chemistry Honors has helped me develop analytical and problem-solving skills that are essential in this field.

Machinery and mechanical systems are a big part of aerospace engineering, and my studies in physics and engineering have prepared me to work with aircraft and spacecraft components, structural analysis, and propulsion systems. With my academic foundation and passion for engineering, I’m confident in pursuing my degree at Clarkson University and excelling in this field.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Growing up in the country of Bangladesh, I would watch tv shows of how rockets launched into
the sky, and I dreamed of one day being part of that world. Determined to build a plane, I found
the only materials available to me - pieces of styrofoam and rubber bands. Using the guidance
of YouTube videos, I built my first plane, which soared into the air and glided with ease. My
small success made me happy, but the reality around me was that this was a dream that would
not come true in Bangladesh.
My family moved to the United States in 2019, with dreams of freedom and financial success.
My childhood dream stayed with me, and I saw more opportunities to make it come true. I kept
building planes. However, when I built the plane again, I encountered a problem: I didn’t have
the money to buy the necessary equipment. I wondered how I could use the resources available
at my school to continue my project, and discovered that our school offered an aeronautics
class, an ideal opportunity to learn.
My teacher recognized my enthusiasm and began teaching a lesson on airplane construction at
our school. However, I was dismayed to learn that our school lacked the resources to build a
life-sized plane. We started with paper planes and competed with other classes for prizes in
flight duration and distance. I achieved 1st in each of these competitions.
Determined to advance my project, I asked if I could build a motor-powered plane. My teacher
agreed, but unfortunately, the school could not support the project due to financial constraints.
Undeterred, I took on a job at Dunkin Donuts to save money and continued working on my
plane. I spent $250 to create my prototype, named "Crazy Boy,” and was inspired by the
challenges I faced.
Despite requests for help, my attempts to secure space and resources for making and flying my
plane were rejected. However, towards the end of the school year, there was a science fair that
showcased student projects. I decided to enter my motor-powered plane into the fair, hoping
that the visibility might lead to future opportunities. At the fair, my plane impressed many
students and their families, who expressed interest in supporting our school’s aeronautics
program.
Today, I remember my life in Bangladesh and how hard it was to make my dream come true. But
since I left, I have learned mathematics, engineering and physics to help me build my plane. I
am proud of the person I have become, the kind of person who can work hard to make their
dream come true. Through my struggles I’ve learned that you should never totally depend on
others. Doing things independently makes me think better, because I can depend on myself
better than anyone else. If I can do what I have done up to now, I believe that I can continue to
learn and grow as a student and a person.
