Nasya Ramirez

My name is Nasya Ramirez, I am an International student from Curaçao, which is an island in the Caribbean. I am about to start my sophomore year at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. My major is Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Management, I am part of the ULM Track and Field team, and a member of Chi Alpha which is a Christian ministry on campus. I followed four years of Pre-University Education on my Island and once I graduated I came to ULM. I finished my freshman year with a 3.68 GPA and It was through my track and field that I got the opportunity to come to ULM. I have had numerous successes with my track and field both nationally, on my Island, and internationally. These consisted of being a “track and field female athlete of the month” in May 2013 and “track and field female athlete of the year”, four times, in Curaçao. Furthermore, I won a gold and silver medal at the Junior Netherlands Track and Field Championships and a Bronze medal at the Carifta Games. I also participated in the Junior Panamerican Games in 2017. My most recent achievement was winning a Rising Star award, given by the Curaçao Athletics Scholarship Foundation, in January of this year.

These achievements mean a lot to me since I am aspiring to further my career in track and field and to have many more successes nationally and internationally, and these achievements open doors for me to do so. Moreover, excelling academically also opens doors for me at the university, like the Honors Society, and also when I graduate. I am a person that likes sports and business so studying Sports Management fits well with what I want to pursue in my career. Also, being an athlete I have a better understanding of how the Sports Industry works and how I can make a positive change in this industry. However, most importantly through all these achievements, I get to see how God has been using me to do great things and I am excited to see how He will continue to use me to glorify Him.
