About

My goal is to continue my educational journey so that I can work at the top of my potential. Professionally, I look to develop successful faculty and effective teams that ensure student success and cultivate an environment of inclusion and accomplishment. I work to create educational strategies and curriculum to teach and train students in their desired field of interest. I am a team player with excellent communication skills, high quality of work, driven and highly self-motivated.

Due to various circumstances, I was unable to attain my educational goals when I was younger, but I recently made the decision to return to school. Through varying issues, I have persevered through my first year back and I am determined to finish. I am a mother of 3 teenagers, and I am working to set an example for them as well. Once I complete my degrees, I am confident I will be able to make a difference in the lives of those around me in more impactful ways.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Currently I have been a faculty instructor and program chair for an accredited pharmacy technician program in Colorado Springs for 15 years. I have been working as an assisting dean over the last year and a half, and my goal is to continue along this path of increased leadership in the education setting. I plan to seek additional opportunities in higher education leadership.

I also work closely with various publishers to develop and implement current pharmacy technician training curriculum. I aim to continue in this capacity as well, and increase educational opportunities for this industry.

Graduate school interests

I am in search of the right online masters program for me, with an emphasis in online instruction and technology, project management, and organizational leadership.

Volunteering

  • Education Sub-Committee Member: I have served on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's Education Sub-Committee since 2020, ensuring equity in exam takers' qualifications. PTCB sets the standard for Pharmacy Technician Certification for the industry. I assist the organization to review and analyze independent exam applicants to determine eligibility when outside factors play a role in applicants being eligible to sit for the exam. (Examples include students of programs that have been closed down since their program graduation, students who's graduation was delayed by the covid pandemic, or international applicants.)

I review programmatic self-studies with ASHP Lead Surveyors and conduct on-site curriculum review, facility assessment, and interviews with program faculty, students, and graduates. We work together to make finalized recommendations for each program seeking accreditation.
