About

My primary interest, currently, in social work/ criminal justice is the desire to help combat veterans readjust to their previous civilian life. The life of a Veteran undergoes a significant change when they leave the military and go back to being a civilian. Many have gone through traumatic and stressful situations while working that if not well-handled may lead to disastrous effects. After leaving the forces most of them have combat flashbacks, find it difficult to associate with others, feel lonely, become depressed, or develop anger problems. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders may be witnessed in Veteran’s that do not receive the necessary counseling. Most times, these individuals feel that the only people that can comprehend and relate to their situation are their fellow colleagues. Due to the difficulty of a veteran to interact with others, the problems continue to build up, and this may lead to their alienation, becoming violent or resolve to drug abuse. There is, as a result, a need to help these people get back to their usual lifestyle through support and continuous counseling. With the position of social personnel, I will be able to walk with Veterans through every stage of the transition and thus help prevent cases of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders. My primary objective will be to help them smoothly integrate back to the society by helping both the Veterans and their families adjust.
