Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended career path is to serve as a first-grade elementary school teacher, where I can support early literacy, foundational math skills, and the overall well-being of students during one of the most formative stages of their development. I aim to create an inclusive classroom that nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. Through continuous professional development and lifelong learning, I plan to grow as an educator and make a meaningful impact in students’ academic and emotional success.

Graduate school interests

I am a soon-to-be graduate of the University of Maryland Global Campus with a strong academic background in General Studies and a focused interest in psychology. Throughout my coursework—particularly in child development, behavioral science, and educational psychology—I have developed a deep interest in understanding how cognitive, emotional, and social factors influence learning and behavior.

My long-term goal is to pursue graduate studies in psychology, with a focus on school psychology or child and adolescent development. I am especially interested in how early interventions, social-emotional learning, and mental-health support can improve student outcomes and overall well-being. Graduate school will allow me to deepen my knowledge of assessment, counseling strategies, and evidence-based practices so I can better support children and families in educational settings.

I plan to continue building on my academic foundation, research skills, and hands-on experience in the classroom as I prepare to take the next step toward becoming a licensed professional in the field of psychology.

Outside the classroom

My hobbies are swimming, spending time with my children, reading, and going to church.
