I am very proud of myself for being able to get where I am today. I say this because I come from a very poor family, neither of my parents went to college and in high school they did not push me to want to do my best. Growing up the way I did is the reason why I am so hard on myself, I must become a nurse. I must better myself. I cannot be my parents. I strive for excellence. My parents are the blue print for what I do not want to be. I did not attend college right out of high school because I was not encouraged to do so, because of this I began going down the wrong path which lead me to a point in my life that I did not want to be. I was living like my parents, struggling. Living pay check to pay check just to barely get by. I have a reality check and got myself back on track. Before enrolling back into a college program I started a certificate program to obtain my medical assistant certification, I knew this would be the first stepping stone toward becoming a nurse. Once obtaining my certification from the AAMA I began working and have been working as a Medical Assistant ever since. Yes, it is very hard to work full time and go to school but this is what I have to do to achieve the goals I have set for myself. I will not stop until I get my BSN, and even than who know I might keep going. My goal in life is to continue to better myself.
