About
My name is Rebeca Albarracin Lemoine. I am from Bogota, Colombia. I am a Business Administrator and completed a Master of Science in Quality Systems. I am also a Primary School Teacher because I did a Diploma in Teaching and Pedagogical Training for Professionals without a License, and my major from High School was also in Pedagogy. While I was a High School and University student, after graduating from them and obtaining my diplomas, in Colombia, I worked as a Preschool Teacher and Elementary Teacher in Private and Public Schools. I also worked as a General Manager in private companies and schools for 20 years. Additionally, I worked as a Primary Teacher and Academic Coordinator in private schools and with the Colombian Ministry of Education for 15 years. I have also occasionally worked as a Mathematics and English/Spanish Tutor for teenagers and college students.
As a High School student and Seventh-Day Adventist Church member, I participated in various Community Service Programs as a Primary Education Teacher for illiterate people, senior citizens, and children with learning disabilities.
Likewise, while working with the Department of Education of Colombia as an Academic and Coexistence Coordinator, I also participated in various programs and projects on Conflict Resolution in the Educational Community in association with the United Nations (UN) in Colombia and the Colombian National Police.
Before traveling to the United States, I took an English course at the Colombo American Center in Bogotá for two years. Then, when I first came here in February 2017 as an international student, I started my English courses at a language school (ZONI Language Centers) which I finished in July 2021. Currently, I am studying my second year at BMCC, enrolled in the Bilingual Early Childhood Education Program. As an international student (F1 Visa), I am excited to be a first-time BMCC student and hope it will be a great and wonderful experience.
I am an outgoing and wise person with many thoughts and judgments. I am reserved, practical, logical, and calm. I enjoy order and organization in all areas of my life, including home, work, family, and projects. When I have a solution, I will rest and complete the work on time. I value loyalty to myself and others and place much emphasis on traditions. I have reliable decision-making as a supporting character, as I tend to distance myself from my emotions and prefer to make decisions based on reason rather than intuition.
I love sports and enjoy playing volleyball, basketball, football (soccer), and ping pong. I love to swim, run and bike too. When I was young, I belonged to the university's swimming, basketball, volleyball, and mini-soccer teams and participated in several university championships. I love pets, especially dogs. I enjoy cooking because it is relaxing and fun for children. As an Elementary School Teacher, I took some trips with my students to farms and natural parks to enjoy and learn about nature and animals. I love music, and I enjoy singing and dancing with children. Since I was a child, I have always liked to participate in the Church and School Choir. That is why I learned that music is the best tool to teach children all the essential things in life. Also, I love to read books and watch movies about history and actual facts.
In general, people can see me as strict and sometimes lonely, but when they can get to know me in depth, I am quite a fun person who also likes to help others as much as possible without expecting anything.
Since I like to learn new things, I am willing to achieve my professional goals by enrolling in the programs, Master's degrees, and Ph.D. degrees necessary to improve my performance as a Public Education Administrator and Business Administrator here in New York City.
My objective is to adequately prepare myself to work with the New York Department of Education or another company and organization, public or private, related to improving public administration and public education to provide an excellent, effective, efficient, and productive service to the whole community in general.
Following the preceding and considering that I am a responsible, obedient, diligent, and hardworking person, I believe that I am an ideal person to occupy any Educative and administrative position since I have the necessary and adequate knowledge, preparation, skills, and experience to fulfill the expectations of the requirements required to perform those functions.
