About

I am a pediatrician working with Indian Railways since past 15 years. I have been working with this organization in the capacity of a clinician, Health program manger and administrator. I am a parent to a child with autism and became specially interested in researching Autism Spectrum Disorders after his diagnosis. I come across several kids with autism in my clinical practice and my profession as well as my own son's diagnosis led me to pursue a Master's Program in Special Education at the University of North Texas. I am especially interested in early diagnosis and intervention in Autism as well as in the Evidence Based Practices used for treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. I intend to work towards early diagnosis and intervention and also guide parents and colleagues towards the use of EBP for the treatment of kids with Autism so as to save precious time and resources for these kids, which is frequently lost as a result of late diagnosis and trying out non- evidenced based treatment with little or no result.
I am passionate for my work and hope to make a positive difference in my son's life as well as in the lives of my little patients.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I intend to work as a pediatrician in India with an emphasis on early diagnosis and early intervention in Autism Spectrum Disorders in my country, where ASD is still diagnosed quite late. I intend to collaborate with parents and colleagues and paramedics to work towards spreading awareness towards early diagnosis and intervention in Autism Spectrum Disorders. I intend to run a development screen and screening for autism spectrum disorders for all kids at 18 and 24 months. I would also train parents to work with their children using evidence based methods.
