About
I am currently a student at Grand canyon university, studying a master's in Clinical Mental Health counseling. I have spent the last five years in the field of Mental health and substance abuse. My passion for helping individuals with substance abuse and mental disorders is a personal mission in my life because of how it affected the people in my life, and my goal is to give back to the community wherever I can. Outside of my volunteer opportunities, I also assist individuals' needs and desires to ensure compliance with licensing regulations, agency policies and practices, and protection of individual rights. Many of these individuals have debilitating mental conditions, including, but not limited to, fetal alcohol syndrome. I take pride in making sure that all of the individuals that I serve feel loved, emotionally safe, and do my best to facilitate a nurturing environment that promotes hope, independence and encourages an atmosphere that fosters a passion for pursuing their life ambitions. I worked as a Case Manager assisting single mothers with their case management needs. Including, but not limited to, connecting to resources and developed a plan of care with the therapeutic community. I take pride in the fact that I have developed a healthy rapport with many of these patients, blocked numerous Against Medical Advice (AMA's), dealt with several suicidal ideations and make patients feel at ease during their process of recovery. I have proactively identified and assessed patient problems/concerns, quickly found solutions to resolve them, and communicated information to the appropriate staff, staving off any crisis escalation. I believe I have the compassion, organization, and experience needed to be a successful -- one who is a proactive team player and a calm, soothing voice in times of tumult.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I intend to develop community resources to increase the number of peer support to After earning a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I plan to work as a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of Alaska at a substance abuse recovery facility For several years, I have worked in the field of mental health and substance abuse. Many challenges face rural Alaska, such as lack of resources and the difficulties in recruiting, training, and retaining qualified personnel; for this reason, my goal is to develop community-centered courses and training material using biblical foundations to help volunteers handle common mental health and substance abuse concerns within the state of Alaska.
- Graduate school interests
I enjoy care work tending to individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues and learning about the theoretical aspect of mental health and substance abuse.
