About

My name is Ronald Harris and I am currently a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Im a psychology B.S. major and am considering a minor in neuroscience. I was invited and accepted into Honors Carolina, and have worked to use every opportunity offered to me by UNC. Im part of the Autism Awareness society, Minority Men in Medicine, Psychology club, Carolina M.A.L.E.S the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students and Black Student Movement. Im hoping to continue conducting research--I worked at Duke University in the Information Initiative Department (iiD) my senior year of high school in app development to help diagnose young children with autism and measure behavior patterns. The app has since been developed and is available in the app store today. (It is called Autism and beyond for anyone interested.) I also did a short project at NC State in the Carbone Lab studying reproduction in a carcinogenic fungi and how its toxins were being passed to various strains of the fungi, especially those that did not intitially contain the genes for toxin production. I have volunteered in Duke Hospital for 3 years and have earned awards from both the mayor of Durham and president of Duke Hospital. Im hoping to make the most of the the next 3 years and improve beyond what I have done already.
