Roxana Martinez Bermejo

I am a 28 years old student, that was born in Cuba and came to USA in 2016. I am about to finish my Associate at Miami Date College, and next semester I will transfer to Florida International University (FIU), in order to complete my Bachelor in Biology. After this, I would like to pursue a dental medicine program, because my dream is to become a dentist. In Cuba I studied Art History for some years, this is one of my dearest passions. I volunteer in an Art Magazine, called Art Solido. I am member of its editorial team. I like to write, and have received some international prizes for my poetry. I form part of Phi Theta Kappa fraternity and the Honors College of FIU. I also dedicate some hours every week to collaborate with Kendall Art Center, a cultural institution located in Miami, which is oriented to promote Cuban-American artists. My regular job is as a certified Pharmacy Technician at Jackson Memorial Hospital. In this place I have had the opportunity to help my community and learn about the necessities of the people around me.
