About

Hi everyone, I am a student in Oklahoma City. My name is Ruby Cervantes, I am a first generation college student in my family with the intention of going above and beyond with my education. I highly believe that education is the key to end poverty. It's important to realize where we come from and how far we are willing to go with our lives. Overall, my plan is to work hard towards my masters degree in nursing.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I work at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. I have been an ICU nursing assistant at Mercy for about four years. I am responsible for taking vitals and blood sugars for my patients. It is also my responsibility to report anything abnormal to the nurse. My mission is to make sure my patients hygiene, pain level, and safety is on check. I intend to challenge myself not only at school but also at work so that once I have masters degree I can look back and know that I lived and gained the experience as well as the transition in the same place I started.

Graduate school interests

I look forward into grad school because I want to always work on improving my professional prospects. In my personal opinion, there is no such thing as "enough education". The importance of grad school to me is gaining skills and knowledge as well as more opportunities and advancement for my career.

Outside the classroom

I am all about singing, writing, and traveling. I have many other hobbies but traveling is my most favorite. Going outside of the country is the best feeling for me. It makes me come back home more humble and more grateful. Being able to live like others teaches you that there is more to life than just the material things.
