Scottie Lesher

I would like to aid in the investigations and searches for MMIW, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, and to pass legislation that will better protect my people from being served injustice due to too many jurisdiction intersections and addressing laws that do more harm to us than good. I aim for the day when our children can walk upon our lands without having to be scared and play outside without being taken from us. Last year, three little girls went missing or ended up being found under mysterious circumstances in one week when I went home to visit. The youngest one was three years old, my niece.

My hobbies include creating skirts and regalia for fellow Native sisters who cannot make their own or afford to pay someone to get the items. This helps me continue to practice my culture to keep it alive. I also love to paint and have donated paintings to auctions to help raise money for Ground Penetrating Radar equipment to use on Boarding school grounds here in the US. We must bring the history of boarding schools to light to find truth and reconciliation and healing.
