About

I am a first-generation student who comes from a Venezuelan family which migrated to the United States 2 years ago with the possibility of dreaming a better future where we could eat at least 3 times a day. With a dream of becoming a doctor since I could turn my thoughts into words as a child, making good for people in critical times and giving a spark of hope has been my motivation for keeping on track with this beautiful path. My mom is an influential figure to me, she is a nurse with more than 20 years of experience and a businesswoman, those achievements should be enough to live an average lifestyle but we could not control our countries situation and things kept getting worse with insecurity and lack of basic needs. Despite all the negative, my mom taught me to keep my head held high and have faith in God.

Some information about my inspirational goals is to build a non-profit school for Latin immigrants of all ages centered on learning how to learn and speak fluent English. As well, opening a Venezuelan restaurant is definitely on my must-do list to transcend my Venezuelan traditions in a foreign country.

My experience related to my first semester was amazing, having the chance of making new friends and taking advantage of every source to have outstanding grades made it one of the best moments in my life, but I am afraid I may not be able to pay for tuition in the next semester. My mom can barely afford these prices but still, makes an effort to work overtime every week just to keep her son (me) unworried of their (our) financial situation. I owe her my life and joining college would have not been possible if she was not giving all her effort, time, and energy to a full-time physically demanding job. The least I could do for us is to reach out for help regarding scholarships and ask for any source of financial aid. Giving all my best is necessary to fulfill my goal which is to give my mom a life where she does not have any needs.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Pursuing a Neuroscience major to join Medical School and become a Neurosurgeon in a not distant future. I want to contribute as much as I can to the medical field elaborating research that helps people with low to average income. Build an organization focused on granting people of all ages a good education about mental health and diseases, as well as providing a free health care service for people with mental illness. Becoming a Neurologist or a Psychologist are some other options I have on my list.

Graduate school interests

Medical school is the ultimate goal for me to achieve my dream. I am currently pursuing it and making my best to deserve it.

Outside the classroom

I developed a skateboarding interest in a short time of living in the U.S. but my overall hobbies are playing video games and soccer. A relaxing activity which I enjoy is swimming. Photographer from time to time and a cooking apprentice.
