About

I'm currently a doctoral student in geography at the University of Kentucky. I'm fascinated by the identity and visibility politics of queer migrants of color and the affective qualities of space, place, race, and gender. I'm specifically concerned with queer Haitian women in the diaspora across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean. My research examines the community-building practices of queer Haitian women living in the U.S. rural south. My research is at the intersections of Black geographies, rural geographies, gender/sexuality studies, and diaspora studies. At the University of Cincinnati, my research focus was on the identity formation of queer Haitian women living in New York and Florida. This developed from my earlier interests in women migrants while at Bethune-Cookman University where my focus was on the mistreatment of Asian women migrant domestic workers working in the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
