About
I am currently going back to school to assist in obtaining my certifications and license to become a Sign Language interpreter. I am considered a non-traditional student since it has been almost 10 years since I last attended college. I received my BA in Hearing Sciences. I am currently a substitute teacher at the Carle Auditory Oral School in Champaign, IL. I enjoy teaching at the school, but want to do more with signing, hence why I am in an interpreting program. I am also intrigued with Deaf culture and hope to become a member of its community where ever I reside.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
As of now, my options are wide open. I would like to try a little bit of everything, but deep down hope to find myself in either the medical field, or in theater. I feel that I am strong in my signing, but I am also very theatrical. The path to the beginning of my career is quickly coming to an end and I am eager to see where it leads me!
- Graduate school interests
There aren't many graduate schools I could attend considering my career choice isn't a very popular or common one...However, at this moment I am focusing on the now. Once I have graduated and found a job that I am comfortable with, then I will look deeper into graduate programs.
- Outside the classroom
I don't' have many hobbies to be honest- I try to stay busy with school and work. Here is a small list of what I enjoy when I am not focusing on my education-
Dancing! I teach dance two days a week to children ages 12 and under. I have been teaching dance since I was 13yrs old and cannot imagine my life without it! Although this is technically a job, since I do get paid, I enjoy it more and more each day. Watching children grow and learn in a setting that they don't even realize they are doing so is truly amazing! Not many people get the opportunity to see this type of leaning first hand. Recital in June is my favorite time of year- this is when all of our hard work as both student and teacher has paid off.To see their smiling faces at the end of the night only validates my passion for what I do!
Another hobby of mine is sewing (light sewing!). I enjoy making hair accessories for girls, bow ties for boys, and collars for our furry friends. This is a very recent hobby, but it is very time consuming! Although this does not happen as often as I wish, I love creating new designs for our clients both young, old, and furry!!
