I tell my students that I am a witch who can do magic - after all, with books I can travel back in time and read people's minds and see the future. The real magic though, is in teaching them. In helping a student find the perfect book. In explaining the organization of the library so they understand it. In bringing characters to life. It's in the joy of spreading the wonder of reading and storytelling, of creating a welcome space where children feel at home, of sharing the world of books together. Here, the in the Southwest corner of nowhere, Kansas, I strive to bring a little bit of amazement to their lives, strive to share with them the passion of learning so deeply embedded within me.
