About
In almost every show I have been apart of, I was shocked to learn that some of my castmates’ parents were not supportive of their participation in theatre. Especially for the most talented kids, it was hard to believe that their families held them back. I am fortunate to have encouraging parents and family members, and I hope I do not take them for granted. They are an important part of keeping me focused on my dreams, and I love everything they have done for me.
My mom, my dad, and my two younger siblings are my rock. We do everything together, from going to midnight showings of the newest Marvel movie, to beach trips, and to eating at our neighborhood sports bar when we are too tired to cook. What I love most about my connection to my family is how open we are with each other. I feel comfortable telling my parents about drama in school (including theatre). My brother and sister, while annoying, defend me and believe in my talents like no one else. We all believe in each other. Even when I do not feel like practicing a forensics piece or singing at a party, you can bet that my family will encourage me to perform. I am better because of them.
Since I started seriously considering theatre as a career, my parents have been super supportive. They pay for voice and dance lessons, feed my cast during tech week, and drive all over town to get me to auditions, other schools’ shows, and Denny’s. My dad told me to “ride this wagon til the wheels fall off,” and that will stick with me. No matter what, I will continue my dream of becoming a professional actress, with my family cheering me on along the way.

SPEECH CAPTAIN
While a member of Edison High’s forensics (speech and debate) team, I was elected Speech Captain in both my junior and senior year. I signed off on club expenses for tournament and hotel fees. I also guided my teammates in selecting and performing speeches. There are a variety of speech categories, including dramatic, humorous, originals, and duo. Each category comes with certain methods that heighten a speaker’s performance, and I brought those out in my peers. I also led by example by being a successful speaker myself, having placed seventh at the 2019 State Competition for Dramatic Interpretation. |||||MOCK TRIAL
From freshman to senior year, I was a member of Edison High’s mock trial team. Each year, schools were assigned a fictional criminal event and had to construct a prosecution and defense case. Different schools would compete at the Fresno County Courthouse and were scored by actual judges and attorneys. Students were assigned roles such as lawyers and witnesses, and the competition ran like a real life court proceeding. I was always a witness. I portrayed victims, medical examiners, and a defendant. During these trials, witnesses were scored on their performance and knowledge of the case facts. I would receive high scores from the judges and numerous MVP awards from the opposing team. |||||THEATRE
A huge part of my high school experience was being a part of the Edison Tiger Theatre Company. I was in five productions during my time at Edison. Unfortunately, my final show was postponed to next school year due to school shutdowns, so I will not be able to participate. I nevertheless still have fond memories of my performances. The last two shows especially were important to me because I was a lead in both. Every show experience taught me professionalism, responsibility, collaboration, and, of course, skills in acting, singing, and dancing.
