About

As a child growing up, school was always a must in my household. Being the second oldest of 4 daughters my parents always told my 3 sisters and I that education is the key to everything. I attended school, had good grades, did everything in the correct manner. Feelings of just going with the flow of things, school was always something I did and enjoyed doing. Having a strong educational and spiritual family is the best the thing in life I had growing up. By becoming a Social Worker I will show and prove to my parents that I have cherished the values they taught me and that I will pass it on to benefit others. Now, i can proudly say that at 28 years old i Graduated from Mercy College with honors, Cum Laude, and with my BSW, and moving onto my MSW.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I truly believe that I will make a great social worker. I am tremendously emotionally mature, objective, and sensitive to people and their problems. I can handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain good working relationships with my clients and coworkers. I want the opportunity to make a positive impact on the society we live in. I am particularly interested in Child, Family, and Forensic social work. I love working with children and teenagers and firmly believe that proper attention and guidance in an individual’s childhood can help set him/her up to have a positive future. I also am very interested in working with children and teens in a school setting who are considered under privileged. I want to act as an advocate to make sure they receive the services and attention necessary to increase their quality of living.

Graduate school interests

I believe and expect that graduate school at Fordham University will be much more challenging than undergraduate. This is not only because the quality of work in an Advanced Program will be harder, but also because I will need to apply my theoretical knowledge to practical situations in my field placement. I think It is easier to contemplate what is wrong in society, but now in 2016 it is more challenging to go out and fight it. As a Social Worker I will be that person to change the world, because I will be apart of a profession that is grounded in pursuing social justice. I will have unique and privileged opportunities to assist people in claiming their rights and improve their circumstances. Within my graduate study, upon graduation from Fordham University, I hope to obtain my license and begin my future as a successful helping professional.

Outside the classroom

I love creative stories and poetry.
I enjoy reading novels, poetry, artwork.
Maintaining my school work load.
Most importantly, spending time with my loved ones, and a few close friends.
