About

My interest in becoming a doctor, and majoring in Biology, developed when I was 10 years old. I had hurt my hand severely. While at the hospital I watched quizzically, unflinching to the nurse's and doctor's surprise, as the doctor stitched up the gash in my hand. I was asking questions the whole time about tissue, muscle, and blood. Since then I have not wavered, and wanted to be a doctor more every year. I read on the subject, watch documentaries on medical procedures and advancements, and have taken several college classes in biology and medical terminology while in high school. A matter of fact I am graduating high school early, January 2018, with a 3.8 GPA. Also, I was able to maintain a 3.6 GPA at college while attending high school simultaneously, accumulating nearly 50 college credits. I have experience related to my choice of major, and career, outside the classroom. First, I have two years of volunteering and internships at Los Robles Hospital. I started with discharging patients, delivering things to and from the lab, and running errands for doctors and nurses. Now I even check on patients, assist staff with non-medical tasks, and interact with doctors and surgery patient's families. I am CPR certified. The greatest thing I have done is an internship in the war torn section of the Ukraine in July of 2016. I was able to work with my aunt and uncle, who are doctors, at the Ukrainian Union of Combatants Center. I witnessed combat level injuries, and was able to assist the medical staff. I did similar tasks like at Los Robles, but was also trained in some basic functions like prepping medical stations and stocking medical supplies in the rooms and surgical areas. I participated in an extracurricular club called Majors Program while in high school. For two years I attended medical conferences, did extensive research and essays about education and careers involving biology and careers in the medical field.
