About
My name is Wendy Jimenez and I am a transfer student from Howard Community College to Towson in pursuing my Physical Education Teaching career and follow the path to become an Adaptive Teacher (assist students with disabilities during their PE classes). I was born with a strange Charge Syndrome, I have audition loss, speech problems, I had a fistula repair, choanal atresia, orthodontic problems, vision impairment and delayed development. I have an IEP, but against all the medical prognostics, I was successful in my life and school. I had the fortune to be around people that love me and guide me through difficult times, and that inspires me to help my community which is why I became kind, honest, motivational, and always concerned about others. I would like to help other kids with disabilities and inspire them. Also, the feeling of people trusting and following me as a model. It has been a pleasure to be part of the Special Olympic team since 2012 and representing Howard County in swimming, soccer and basketball. I received the 2016 Athlete of the Year of Howard County Special Olympics and worked hard to one day represent Howard County internationally, in any sport. Moreover, practicing cheerleader, karate, and dance classes (hip hop, jazz, ballet, and tap) that I enjoy listening to music and the movements as well. I recently started yoga online which I love doing. Sports and physical activities always relaxed my mind and kept me in shape. It was a great fortunate to receive several achievements in my life from teachers, organizations, and my favorite of all is the Police Academy Boot Camp. They gave me the “Perseverance” award out of 20 cadets which I received that honor as a result of my tendency, effort, compromise, and perseverance. Thank you for the opportunity and hope to continue my passion along the way.
