About

My name is Wentana Kidane I am currently attending a community college here in California with hopes to transfer to a top university, I was raised and grew up in Antioch, ca however my parents migrated from a small country in Africa called Eritrea which is right on top of Ethiopia, my parents knew having kids in that country wasn't the best option because they were living in poverty and they wanted better for there family. My father came to the U.S without a penny to his name he came he worked at a gas station and also slept there to because that was the only place he can sleep after a few years my mother then came and went to adult school to learn the basic english and then got a job as a nanny. As time progressed and I got older I started realizing things I never noticed before I noticed just how much my parents have sacrificed for us and it motivated me to be the best I can possibly be. Which is why I am in college hoping to go into psychology I want to help young kids out there and even adults who are struggling, my reason for this is because when I was in my country I witnessed a friend of mine get raped and no one cared and since the age 13 that stuck with me and I have hopes in the world to help people when no one else will listen to them I pray and hope to be someones hero one day. Psychology is a career path that I can do anything with and it fits me most because of the kind heart and compassion I feel for others. After furthering my education I plan on going back to my country and starting a camp for survivors who have been through trauma and help them overcome that and counsel them in any way to help them regain that strength back.
