Graduate school interests

Outside the classroom

I love to exercise. I run, lift weights, box, take hikes, walk briskly, dance, do yoga, and swim. I have always been involved in sports and enjoyed maintaining a healthy personal competition with my previous abilities and what I can currently do, which has greatly increased and is constantly becoming better. In elementary school I played basketball, did cheer & gymnastics, In middle school I began volleyball & yoga, in high school I took on the challenge of softball and track & field. Now that I am in college my mind jumps from the urge to play basketball, to volleyball, to track&field, and then to just being an encouraging and supportive member of my family, friendship groups, classes, and all other social interactions I regularly engage in.

I love to wear eclectic clothing, style myself according to a mix of particular cultures that I am apart of, style my friends in clothing that makes them feel represented, and shop for the latest additional clothing item that adds to my wardrobe more information and greater expression of my personality via my clothing style.

I have always had a passion for music. I played violin in middle school, I've been a member of the school choir since elementary school up until highschool and for the first semester of my sophomore year in college. I currently am working on developing my vocal skills and ability to recreate musical beats so that I may utilize my skills when I have the opportunity to remix songs.

Learning is my favorite thing to do. I don't have a passion for proving anyone wrong, for serving people right, for increasing my fan following, for becoming popular, or for being famous. My top priority in life is to learn. To learn is to grow and I don't believe that I will ever experience an end to my growth spurt -- spiritually, mentally, & physically. I plan to learn for the rest of my life and beyond to the heaven where my faith in God will lead me. I learn through everything. The biggest obstacle to this particular hobby of mine is the academic grading scale. I constantly have to make the sacrifice between learning in the absence of a grading scale versus learning with the intent to receive an admirable grade via the grading scale. As necessary as this system may be to maintain order, I do admit to experiencing a challenge when faced with the decision to put a grade first over what I deem more important all for the sake of GPA maintenance.
