Thoughts on Success

What is success?  As I take steps in my life towards a career, I find myself faced with the question of success.  I hear of the successful, but then I must ask, what makes them successful.  I have pondered this and come to a conclusion.

The question that needed to be answered was, "what is success?"  Success could be measured by how much money I have, or prestige, or even a scale of how much I do right vs. wrong.  But each of these is so fleeting, money is spent, prestige is lost in one wrong step, and scales leave so much room for anxiety.  There must be a better answer.  Maybe there is one.  God came as a man to save people from the consequences of their sinful actions.  He was not met with earthly success but with death on a cross.  But, He didn't stop with this attempt that looked to be a failure.  He raised Himself from the dead and conquered death itself!  You may be asking, what this has to do with success?  My friend, it has everything to do with success!  As I have come to understand and believe that God really did die and come back to life to wipe my slate clean of sin, I see more and more that my identity is not in who I make myself to be but in who He made me to be.  God, my creator and savior, calls me a success because I love and trust Him; and because I find who I am in Him, I know that no matter what I do, I am a success.  This kind of success is not fleeting like money, prestige, and scales, but is a type of success that will follow me into eternity.
