Honor Society® Expert FAQ

Can you receive aid at two colleges at once?

You may be able to receive coordinated aid while taking courses at two schools, often through a consortium agreement. You cannot receive Pell Grant payments from two schools for concurrent enrollment.

What to know before you act

Typically, a home institution administers aid and determines whether approved coursework at another institution counts toward your program and enrollment. The schools must agree on responsibilities; simply enrolling at both does not create an aid arrangement.

Ask about billing, attendance confirmation, academic progress, and when credits must transfer back. Loans and other awards also require coordination under their own rules. Get approval before registering so you do not assume an extra course will increase aid when it is not eligible.

Your next steps

  • Identify the school granting your degree.
  • Ask whether it permits a consortium agreement for the proposed courses.
  • Confirm payment responsibilities and enrollment reporting in writing.

For the next step, use the fafsa preparation guide. Organize documents, contributor steps, award years, and follow-up tasks.
