About

I am currently a Sociology student in South Texas College in Rio Grande City, TX. I am studying to be a college or university professor. I grew up in the small town of Rio Grande, TX where I was raised in a family of four; my mother and my two siblings. Being raised by a single parent, we experienced hard times but with willingness to overcome those situations, I inherited the passion and continue to value the idea of hard work. I grew up wanting to become recognized, I found that music became a huge interest of mine so I immediately became a member in the church by singing in the five o’ clock mass at the Immaculate Conception Church and before I knew it, I had been and still happen to be a volunteer for five consecutive years. Today, I am proud to say that I manage the choir that I started in and that we have had a plethora of students join. My music career led to a great turnout that I became a professional. Also, I worked in South Texas College as a work-study under the Counseling and Disability department helping students with accommodations. Currently, I am employed in the Centers for Learning Excellence department at South Texas College where my job consists of providing tutoring services not only for the students at South Texas College but for the public as well. While still being a student, I joined various clubs such as the Student Leadership Academy, The National Society of Leadership and Success (Sigma Alpha Pi), and the Honors Sociology Club. Becoming involved in many ways so that I can further my knowledge is what I strive for because I want to make a difference in society in any way that I can.
