Jasmine Murray

Ever since I was little, I dreamed of becoming an elementary school teacher. I knew exactly what I wanted to do and I've never changed my decision. I love the feeling of being in the classrooms and being able to help younger children. Through my college experiences, I've now noticed that being a teacher is much more than actually teaching the students multiple lessons throughout the day. The moment we step into the classroom, we teach, guide students through life decisions, and for some, even protect & comfort them. Being able to experience these types of things, makes me even more excited and ready to become a teacher.

In the spring of 2015, I graduated from Wor-Wic Community College with an Associates of Arts in Teaching Degree. My focus there was Elementary Education/Generic Special Education k-12. While attending Wor-Wic, I had the opportunity to participate in lots of great activities. I was able to become a chapter officer of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and was named the Recording Secretary. Some awards that I have received was the “Contributions Made to the Community & Wor-Wic Community College Award”, “Achieving Student Excellence in Campus Leadership Award”, Nominee and Finalist for the Greater Salisbury Committee Award, and being selected to represent Wor-Wic Community College as a nominee in the 2015 All-USA Community College Academic Team, The New Century Scholars and the All-Maryland Community College Academic Team. I’ve also had the wonderful experience and opportunity of being the 2015 Commencement Speaker of my graduating class.

Today, I am currently attending Salisbury University and I am working on my Bachelor’s Degree. My focus is Elementary Education w/ a minor in Creative Arts. I plan on becoming more involved on this campus as well and I am so ready to have another great experience. When I do have spare time, I just like to spend time with my family and friends. With our busy lives, we all know that this time can be cut short many of times. I look forward to meeting other HonorSociety.org members and achieving these goals along with them!
