Calen Cyr

I am an Information Technology student getting an Applied Associates in Science at Southern Maine Community College. I'm from Freeport, Maine, where my mother is an accountant and my father is an IT Support Technician. I am a diligent and focused worker, with strong listening skills, great teamwork skills, and a very strong passion for IT. In High School I graduated with a 3.6 GPA, and ended with the distinction of Magna Cum Laude. Although I've loved computers and technology growing up, I developed a passion for Videography while taking two classes, and chose SMCC because their New Media degree program had a very detailed and focused video program. After I had done very well during my time for my Associates, joined Phi Theta Kappa, and built a portfolio of film that could potentially land me jobs, I graduated with a 3.86, and won an award for Outstanding Video Producer in my class. I felt a change of heart when I realized I had loved computers and technology more, having done graphic design and web development classes that made me want to switch to working with computers. I am now re-enrolled at SMCC to get my Associates in Information Technology, where I will use my skills developed from my previous degree to set me apart from other candidates for IT jobs, as my communication, teamwork, and hard working skills will do that for me.
