Bobbie McGlaston

My name is Bobbie McGlaston and I am from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I am currently studying Accounting at University of Sourthern Miss (USM). I have received my associates from Jones County Junior College (JCJC). I was in the Army Active Duty for 8 years after which I discharged and enlisted for Army Reserves for 2 years. While on Active Duty my unit deployed to Iraq a week after my son's first birthday. We were supposed to be deployed for 15 months, but I was only there 11 months because I was diagnosed with a Pituitary Tumor. After having my second son I discharged from Active Duty to prevent the same thing happening again. My second son was diagnosed with Noonan Syndrome and was seen by 7 specialist and had to do three different types of therapy (Speech, Physical, and Occupational). I discharged from Active Duty in 2011, moved back home to help my mom because my dad passed away on 2009 from heart disease, and enrolled in JCJC. I was going to class while also taking care of my two boys and making sure my second son made all his appointments and surgery dates. My second son passed away April 25, 2012 at 16 months old and I graduated with my Associates degree on May 2012. I am now working on my Bachelors degree at USM. I have so much I want to accomplish in life and one of the main things is to help others especially the youth.
