"Music touches us emotionally, where words alone can't," Johnny Depp once said. Personally, music has proven its magic with me. When I listen to music, I hear a story. Not just a story with chords and patterns and a varying tempo, but a story that expresses emotions and passion. Music is full of metaphors for life, and a song's story proves this. In music and life, I started slow and picked up speed, jumping up and down the scale, breathing when I rest and always continuing on my way. Sometimes we reach a challenging tempo in our lives and we take time to practice it, but we will always overcome our hard times. I write my own story in the music I create.
The complicated process of creating and writing music has helped me to understand and express myself. Writing music helps me to problem solve by separating the pieces of the problem. I may be in class working on a complicated problem and I will create a song to remember how to solve it in the future. I even created a song to memorize the US presidents. When I am at water polo and swim practices, I swim to the music I have created and it has helped me to realize my musical potential. I write my emotions into the music and play it through my flute. I know I can solve my problems when I'm writing my music. I write my music when I am upset as low jazz blues. I write when I'm happy with strong accents and fast tempos to show an adventure in the music. I write music to show my emotions and I will never stop doing so. Music expresses life, and it proves to everyone, that all you have to do to achieve fame and happiness, is to practice until you are ready to take the stage.
