About
My name is Tolulope Ayodele. My journey into physics started with obtaining a bachelor of Technology degree in Pure and Applied Physics from Ladoke Akintola university of Technology ,Nigeria. The program taught me the aspects of physical sciences and its application. My thirst for knowledge prompted me to take up a Masters degree in Physics: Radiation & Health Physics option which has facilitated and enhanced the scope of my performance in the field of nuclear medicine and nuclear science and technology as a whole.
After my masters program, I took up a position as a Medical Physicist at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, University College Hospital. The position enabled me perform the following roles: The quality control of the available Nuclear medicine equipment, Radiation safety and research in Radiation and Health Physics.I am also involved in Iodine-131 thyroid treatment for cancer and other thyroid diseases. My Areas of research interest include but not limited to Radiation safety, Dosimetry, Medical imaging as well as radiation therapy. However, plans and ongoing activities are in place for the start of my Phd journey.
I am a self motivated and enthusiastic person with a life long passion for learning with a verifiable record of dependability, a well organized and dynamic team player with a committed and proactive mind laying great emphasis on optimization of safety and radiation protection.
I love to promote clinical interest with a view to reducing cancer burden in the developing countries and the world at large.
The International Agency for Research on cancer gave estimates of 14.1million new cancer cases in 2012 and 8.2 million cancer deaths worldwide. They further stated that the global burden is expected to grow to 21.7 million new cancer cases and 13 million cancer deaths simply due to the growth and aging of the population by 2030 of which the future burden is expected to be more in economically developing countries.
The aforementioned has however informed my choice of career path in contributing more of my own quota in the global fight against cancer.
