About

My name is Ashlee Rene Thompson and I am a second year graduate student pursuing my Master of Fine Arts in painting from the University of Alabama. I currently hold a Bachelor of Art in Visual Arts and a Master of Liberal Arts where my concentration was on art history with a studio art component. I have been teaching as an adjunct instructor for Auburn University at Montgomery since 2015. I am currently a member of the Honor Society: Strength and Honor as well as the Golden Key International Honour Society. I maintain a 4.00 GPA with 24 hours on my transcript towards the MFA degree. I am also pursuing the Museum Studies Certificate. I have had artwork exhibited since 2014, but the majority of my current work can be seen on my professional artist website: artbyarthompson.com. I am currently interested in addressing the stigma of mental illness by creating work that allows open communication about this topic. The program that I am in is 3 year MFA program and I intend to graduate in May 2022.
