Goals and interests

Outside the classroom

I like to pass my time either helping my family, playing with my dog, hanging out with my friends, or participating in any sort of art activity. I help my family as much as I can by cleaning, doing paperwork, and any errands as both of my parents work full time. I also love to play with my dog as he has a lot of energy and loves adventures to the beach as much as myself. I then try to hang out with my friends whenever possible, whether that is a quick sunrise trip to the beach or a longer day spent doing homework and catching up together. Then whenever I have free time, not spent doing homework or one of these activities, I like to go to the gym or do some sort of art activity. I have taught myself over the years to paint, draw, knit, embroider, macrame, and crochet. I am of course still learning but it is something I have been very passionate about as it provides me a nice calming place to relax and unwind from a day's work and brings me closer to my grandma who is an artist herself.

Volunteering

  • I worked with the Port Orange Relay for Life team in 2020 to raise awareness for the American Cancer Society. I founded Team Hope and organized fundraisers to reach out and get more people involved of the situation. I went to monthly meetings with the organization in order to plan the event and evaluate how far we were from our overall goal. Although COVID made the event virtual, we were still able to raise over $500 in Team Hope.

  • I am the president of the National Honors Society in which I organize and create agendas and service opportunities to present to the other members of the club in the meetings, which I also run.

  • I helped tutor students on my own time as well as every Thursday from 4:00-6:00 in my school's library in a program known as Teen Zone. This was to help students struggling in their math classes or needing to catch up due to an absence.

  • I helped a local animal shelter, known as Guapo's Animal Rescue Foundation, raise awareness as well as monetary donations in order to help provide surgeries to animals in need. I did this by running a booth at an open house every year from around 2011-present to sell merchandise and even organized and ran a bake sale. I also worked with their local animal clinic to paint two murals in their cat boarding facility in order to bring cheer to the space.
