Goals and interests
- Career goal
I will be creating my foundation to help the homeless with an addiction problem and many have children. These children need to have coping skills and creative outlets to avoid the same path as their parent suffering with addiction. My foundation will help those with the addiction AND the family members trying to help them or living on the street with an addicted person by helping them complete a GED or diploma if necessary, providing housing and treatment and fresh whole food as well as a thrift store to help cover overhead costs and a reading corner where children will be able to have story time daily and even pick their own book to take with them. When children are shown the world of imagination via stories they have a constructive outlet to escape the harsh reality they live in-the root of addiction is escaping traumatic events and situations in life in an effort to cope with the situation. Showing kids healthy coping mechanisms will allow the cycle of addiction to be broken, so they won’t repeat what happened to their parents. This is a family focused nonprofit to heal all involved not just treating the person who has the addiction!
- Graduate school interests
I’m passionate about learning new things and in the future plan on studying psychology and furthering my business knowledge. I’m also curious about social work degrees and will likely continue on to at least one PHD degree!
- Outside the classroom
Reading, writing, embroidery, crossstitch, learning knitting & currently learning German-I intend on learning 25 more languages over the next several years, gardening with my nephew and building fairy houses with him, going on adventures and teaching my nephew about herbs and plants around us, painting, singing, learning to play guitar. I own my own trucking company so I work extremely long hours, but I’m passionate about helping others and the trucking company allows me to help more people around America as I travel. I have plans with my sister and nephew to travel the world to see all the old libraries and since his passion is architecture (at the moment this is his passion) we will also be checking out the amazing ancient structures as we travel and see new things. Never become “too old” to play and be inspired by the world around us !
