Goals and interests

Career goal

After I graduate from the Middle Childhood-Early Adolescence ESL program in the School of Education at UW Madison, I plan to teach in Latin America, most likely Colombia, for at least 2 years. Then, I would like to move to the southern US and teach in a bilingual school or a bilingual classroom where I will teach in both English and Spanish.

Graduate school interests

I do not intend to go to grad school.

Outside the classroom

I have played violin for 15 years and enjoy playing classical music on my own but I love to jam country music and Elvis Presley songs with my Grandpa and Uncle Randy. I also play guitar and sing and I like to write my own songs and once recorded a CD with my friend. I often scuba dive with my family on weekends or when we go on vacation. When I am stressed, I bake sweets and try new recipes. Becoming fluent in Spanish is extremely important for my future in a bilingual classroom, so in the majority of my free time I read books written in Spanish and talk with my friends in Colombia. I love to travel and after graduation I plan to take a year before finding a teaching job to travel through Latin America.
