About

My name is Meagan Lagman and I received my Bachelor degree in Music Education at the University of Houston. Go Coogs! I then became a band director, and taught middle school band for 4 years. In those 4 years, I got married to my amazing husband and started my family. Being a band director was a wonderful chapter, however, the time and dedication made it hard to be there for my family. Being a new mom, to two wonderful children made me reevaluate my education career. That is when I made a big change, and became a 6th grade math teacher. I taught at the 6th grade level for 3 years. During these 3 years, we added a new bundle of joy to our family and made it through teaching during a pandemic. I love learning and wanted to learn about how I could better help students, so I have stepped from Middle School and into Elementary. I love the content and the age! I hope to grow my knowledge and become an instructional coach back at the middle school level. My dream is to be a Principal or Vice Principal of a virtual learning program.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I would like to continue to grow my knowledge as I leave the classroom after 9 years of teaching, to pursue an instructional coach position. I then plan to obtain knowledge by participating on an administrative team to take the next steps in becoming an assistant principal, and then a principal.
Another path I am looking at as well is working with or for TEA to ensure our education programs in Texas are the best they can be for all students.

Graduate school interests

I am currently working on my Masters at Lamar University.

Outside the classroom

I love spending time with my kids! I also enjoy creating new things, from learning to make earrings, to creating new digital content. I also am working on my Spanish speaking skills.
