About

My name is Amie Jo Stanley. I am a nurse educator who is attending Capella University to obtain my PhD in Education with a specialization in Nursing Education. I have completed the second year of my degree program with a 4.0. I am in charge of a Nurse Residency program in a small rural unionized hospital in Ohio. Our program serves experienced nurses and recently graduated nurses in their transition to practice. I teach a wide range of course content utilizing andragogy principles.
I am a member of the National League of Nursing, Association of Nursing Professional Development, American Nurses Association and the Indiana State Nurses Association. I am a committee member of The National Collaborative for Transition to Practice Research & Publication Committee. We are a group who is coming together to advance transition to practice research and publication dissemination as well as authoring further evidence-based practice research. The committee is in its infancy but is an exciting start to a bright future for nurses and their guided paths to excellence.
As a personal consideration, I am a wife and mother of five. We raise chickens and turkeys on a small hobby farm. Our children are all over the age of 18 now, so my husband and I spend time enjoying trips riding motorcycles and seeing the country. Most of my free time is spent reading nursing research, working on my PhD and teaching others what I have learned. My motto is Cogito Ergo Sum, which means “I think, therefore I am”.
