Issue being a teenager
In the past I did not and even still do not even to this day do not socialize with other people my own age in school or out of school. I thought something was really wrong with me because of not becoming friends or having a ‘’clique’’ of my own.
My brother is the main reason why I thought I was the reason this was happening to me for so many years. For five years now my brother has been pestering me on the fact that I just sit in my room all day and not come up for air until it is dinner time. Last year I finally got the courage to tell him that most teenagers or some people just prefer peace and quiet. He did not get it and even to this day he still thinks I am some sort of alien. My brother thinks the fact that I do not leave my room means that I do not do anything other than watch Netflix while lying in my bed all day.
As an outcast I learned how to be an independent woman. It was hard when I was younger then it started getting easier once I got the hang of it. Like riding a bike it is hard at first after a year or two you get really good at it. Once you get the ball rolling everything falls into place. Does not mean I like being an outcast,I do not just means I have to fend for myself.
This makes me feel socially awkward around people. This lets me get to know who I am as a person so when I find a’’clique’’ of my own I will be better equipped to building relationships. My philosophy is ‘’you cannot be in a relationship until you fully get to know yourself.’’I have not really had many friends but this I know you need to know yourself in order to know someone else.I stand by my philosophy.
I feel more comfortable knowing myself to the extent of branching out. I think after five years I am ready. Take off the training wheels and let me go. Let me finally see for myself that I am not socially awkward. Let me see what ‘’clique’’ I fit into. Let me fly.
