Jamirah Cooper grew up as the oldest child with her single mother. She was born in the small town of Laurel, Mississippi. She then moved to Arizona to another small town called Sierra Vista, staying at the top of her elementary classes. Through Jamirah’s younger years of education, she has received many honor roll certificates, including perfect attendance and achievement awards. She was enrolled into an Honors Math class in middle school.
Staying at the top of the class is one of Jamirah’s strong suits. She's always focused on getting her work done on time because she knows that's how she is going to achieve her goals. Staying at the top of her classes isn't her main focus but learning the new information is her main thrill. Jamirah recently finished highschool as a sophomore with senior credits. She worked nonstop on getting things done. Currently Jamirah is 16 years old making her way to 17 this year. Jamirah is very conscientious, and focused on completing delegated tasks. For a long time Jamirah knew what she wanted to be. She grew up with a family who enjoyed debating. Jamirah enhanced her argumentative trait from her family. Something about helping and fighting for others, that gave her the desire to do more. Since the 4th grade, she wanted to be a Lawyer. She grew up watching shows like Law and Order or CSI, and playing games of Clue. She got so good that when she would watch the show, she just had the impulse of solving that crime before the end of the show.
She understood that there were many types of lawyers so she narrowed it down to either a Corporate Lawyer or a Medical Lawyer. The reason she chose these particular occupations is because she enjoys helping others when it comes down to making a decision with money or medical situations. Jamirah knows that it may be hard to manage money or medical situations. Maybe you're a single parent, or maybe you just don't know how to do this on your own. Jamirah wants to be able to take that stress off someone's back and give them a less thing to stress about. Her mom always told her to look for a job that you enjoy doing and not just based on money.
Jamirahs goal is to become one of the youngest female African American lawyers. She knows that she is going to have to work really hard and stay motivated. This role suits jamirah as she understands the value of money and gives her the ability to train herself to look on the better side of life instead of focusing on problems. Her educational career through high school has helped shape her research interests and desire to continue understanding various aspects of the field. Over the next fews years, she is hoping to engage in valuable research that will hopefully be a useful contribution to the development of the field of law.
