Partners Matter!

Aug 27,2015

At the end of the day my husband is one of my biggest fans!

When I've needed encouragement, rest, help with cooking, a laundry mate - he has ALWAYS stepped up to help. Without him, going to school and staying there until graduation would have been close to impossible.

The reason this is important is because women are more likely to carry the weight of housework and office work on their own UNLESS they know and actively choose a husband/partner who is supportive in multiple areas.

Some of these areas include:

1. housework (laundry, dishes, housecleaning...)

2. childcare (making it possible for women to get adequate rest, relaxation, and time to work longer hours at work as needed and or attend school)

3. gender role neutralization (avoiding historically gendered roles i.e. "only women should do the housework")

Living in a supportive environment that supports women at home and in the workplace is great for multiple reasons.

1. healthier marriage

2. less stress for both partners

3. positive role modeling for children and added empowerment to women
