Sandy Baghdy: My Undergraduate Achiever Scholarship!
Dec 10,2015
They say life can change in a split of a second, and just like that, mine was changed permanently. I was a medical student in Syria; however, during my first year, the civil war started in Syria. As a result, I was forced to leave the country and I came to the United States to continue my long term dream of becoming a physician. Therefore, I decided to get my bachelor's degree and apply to medical schools in the U.S.A. Because I believe in making a difference in life, I began working in a research lab. As I became more interested in research, I submitted a research proposal about the genetic basis of male infertility to the University of Toledo and the university funded my research during the summer. Right now, I am a senior at Toledo University; majoring in Biology with departmental honors and a minor in chemistry. This scholarship will go toward my tuition at the University of Toledo. It will also help me focus on my research and my studies.
