Honor Society® Expert FAQ

Can you submit your application before recommendations arrive?

You can often submit your portion of a college application before recommendations arrive, but each college decides when supporting materials must be received. Submitting your form does not make an incomplete file complete.

Separate your deadline from supporting-material rules

Check whether the college gives recommenders a separate deadline or permits a brief processing interval. Do not assume another school’s grace period applies. Confirm that you invited the right person and assigned the letter to the right college where the platform requires it.

Monitor the applicant portal after submission. A recommender’s upload and the college’s receipt display may not update simultaneously. If a required letter remains missing near the deadline, contact the writer courteously and ask admissions what steps are appropriate. Avoid sending repeated duplicate requests that create confusion.

Your next steps

  • Submit your own completed application by its deadline.
  • Confirm the supporting-material deadline with the college.
  • Track receipt and resolve missing items through the designated channels.
