Honor Society® Expert FAQ
Do scholarships require community service?
Some scholarships require community service; many do not. Service-focused awards may evaluate your contribution, sustained involvement, reflection, or documented hours, while other awards use different criteria.
What to know before you act
Choose meaningful work that responds to a real need, then follow the award’s definition of eligible service. Paid employment, required coursework, fundraising, and informal caregiving may be treated differently. Ask when the instructions are unclear.
Honor Society’s Community Service Scholarship gives service-minded applicants a relevant award to investigate. Its practical benefit is recognizing contribution beyond grades. Read the current eligibility and prompt, then explain what you did, who benefited, and what you learned without inflating the outcome.
Your next steps
- Check whether service is required, preferred, or unrelated to selection.
- Keep dates, responsibilities, and supervisor contact details.
- Use one specific example of your contribution in the application.
